The opening lines...
- “Ladies and Gentlemen, I’d like to thank you all for coming to, what for us is a very special day. It wouldn’t have been the same without you. No, it would have been much cheaper.”
- “Ladies and Gentlemen, before I start I’d just like to say that my new wife helped me writing this speech. Well, she vetted it, so if it’s inappropriate and offensive, blame her.”
- “Ladies and gentleman, before I start I’d like to extend my thanks to (father of the bride) for his kind words, thank you. I feel less like I’ve lost my freedom and more like I’ve gained a father-in-law. I’ll do my best to live up to your expectations and promise I’ll take good care of you daughter and do everything I can to ensure she takes care of me.”
- “Ladies and Gentlemen, my wife and I- I’ve practised those words in the mirror many times- we’re so pleased you’re all here to help us celebrate our wedding day. Having our friends and family here with us is the best start to married life I can imagine.”
- “Ladies and gentlemen, for at least the third time today I rise from a seat with paper in my hand. It puts my nerves into perspective.”
